Senior Waste Engineering Manager

Mike has over 25 years of experience in health physics, radiological controls, radioactive waste management, and radioactive/hazardous materials characterization and shipping. Mike’s skill set includes project management/technical support for facility projects and small-scale D&D process engineering. His responsibilities have included the supervision of waste management staff and radioactive materials shipping personnel, material tracking, package and waste classification calculations, waste profiling, characterization, and modeling.

He has been actively involved in license compliance, license amendments and renewal, and was an authorized NRC/PADEP BRP Radioactive Materials License User.

Mike’s broad industry experience ranges from administrative to quality assurance functions with a special aptitude for technical and operational responsibilities. He has been engaged in procedure writing and review, facility and program ALARA reviews, radiation shielding calculations, design, and implementation, calculating offsite dose from fugitive emissions, ventilation design and maintenance, and Gamma spectroscopy and analysis, and the best-practice management and resolution of non-conformance issues concerning radiological safety.

Certifications include: NRRPT, Advanced Radioactive Material Shipper, Gamma Spectroscopy, Hazardous/Toxic Waste Management, OSHA HAZWOPER, Instrument Selection, Calibration and Use for Unrestricted Release, Occupational Internal Dose Calculations, and In-Situ Measurements and Analysis.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Geneva College with a Major in Biology and a Minor in Chemistry.
